ESPN is reporting Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott has moved ahead of Penn State assistant Anthony Poindexter as the leading candidate for the head coaching vacancy at Virginia.
If he doesn’t get the Cavaliers job Poindexter is said to be a leading candidate to be the Nittany Lions’ next defensive coordinator.
Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin, who just signed a contract that will pay him $7.5 million annually, is now being talked about as a candidate at Oregon. Seems like a bit of a longshot, but Mississippi law only allows a public employee- and that includes the Rebels’ football coach- can only be contracted for four years, so the wealthy Oregon program could conceivably pluck Kiffin away.
Kiffin’s offensive coordinator, Jeff Lebby, left Ole Miss for Oklahoma yesterday.
