At a meeting this morning, the Indiana County Commissioners approved adding three new entities to the county’s opioid litigation.
Those entities are pharmacy/distributor Ahold Delhaize, and manufacturer/distributors Invidor, Inc and Mylan. Attorney Bob Marcus, who has represented the county in the opioid settlement cases, said that a judge has ruled that this could be the last round of entities to be pursued in this lawsuit.
The commissioners also approved a resolution that authorized the signing of a Comprehensive Aviation Grant Agreement with PennDOT to accept a $1.5 million grant for the Indiana County-Jimmy Stewart Airport. The money would go towards the construction of a new hangar at the airport and any related construction and paving to go with it. Airport Manager Rick Fuellner said that this is one of the final grants they applied for.
Also in relation to the airport, the commissioners approved a resolution to authorize filing an application and parcel affidavit to the state Department of Community and Economic Development to request up to 50 acres of vacant property at the airport to become an Airport Land Development Zone, which will encourage and promote the creation of new jobs on land and buildings owned by airports.
