A longtime Indiana businessman and supporter of American Legion baseball has passed away.
Metro Smiley died on July 4th. He was the former owner of Smiley’s furniture gallery in Downtown Indiana in 1977, and after he closed the store, he worked at WCCS and RayMark broadcasting as a sales associate, then worked at First Commonwealth Bank until he retired in 2014. Smiley was active with local baseball as a coach and then served as the commissioner of the Indiana County American Legion Baseball League. He was also a member of the Indiana Round Ball club.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 today at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church. The McCabe-Roof Funeral Home in Clymer is in charge of funeral arrangements.
