One of Indiana County’s most cherished institutions will be closing next year after more than 75 years of hosting banquets, weddings, proms, and many other events.
Joe Lubold, the third-generation owner of the Rustic Lodge, says he will permanently close the venue effective October 31st of next year. However, he emphasizes that the Rustic Lodge will continue to offer its full range of services and is in fact still booking events through that date.
Lubold says it was important to him to assure the public that the facility will honor all of its commitments, and will even continue offering its popular Sunday brunches to the end.
The Rustic Lodge has been in Lubold’s family since it was purchased by Tony and Emma Ricupero on July 5th, 1945. Lubold says it was not an easy decision to retire after three decades.
Lubold says operating the Rustic Lodge has been a privilege, and deciding to stay open until the end of next October is in a sense honoring the way his family has always done business.
The Rustic Lodge has played a unique role in the lives of thousands of area residents, something which Lubold says he knew from the very beginning.
The decision to close Rustic Lodge does not take effect until October 31st of next year and does not affect the adjacent Roseann’s Everyday Gourmet. Reservations are still recommended for the Sunday Brunch, which is from 10 AM to 2 PM every Sunday. Call 465-4583, and you are also invited to visit rusticlodge.net to book an event for next year, through October 31st.
