Indiana County is now up to 31 reported brush fire calls this year after two were reported yesterday.
Indiana County 911 reported at 11:38 AM yesterday a brush fire on Maple Avenue in Blairsville Borough. Blairsville firefighters were joined by Black Lick firefighters and borough police on the scene. The second brush fire call was about a half-hour later with Creekside and Plumville fire departments called into Armstrong County for a brush fire at a property along Atwood road.
First responders were also dispatched to a vehicle accident on Route 119 in North Mahoning township. Marion Center and Perry Township fire departments, state police from the Punxsutawney Barracks and Punxsy Ambulance were dispatched at 1:31 PM. Marion Center Fire Department said on its Facebook page that a van had gone over an embankment and someone was trapped in the vehicle. A medical helicopter was called for a few minutes later.
