PennDOT has announced the closure of the Pleasant Valley Bridge in Buffington and East Wheatfield Townships effective immediately.
The closure is the result of a recent inspection that showed advanced deterioration of the bridge that carries River Road over Blacklick Creek. Plans are in place to replace the existing structure. While the bridge was originally going to be replaced sometime in the summer of 2026, PennDOT officials have advanced the schedule so that work will begin in 2025.
A detour has been posted that utilizes Cramer Pike, Route 22 East, and Wehrum Road.
