The College Football Playoff rankings are out. Georgia, Michigan, Alabama and Cincinnati make up the Top Four with Oklahoma State nipping at the Bearcats heels to get in. Pitt is ranked No. 15.
Brent Pry has been named the new head football coach at Virginia Tech. He’s been an assistant coach at Penn State for eight years, the sole defensive coordinator since 2016, and was been on James Franklin’s staff for a decade- dating back to when the two were at Vanderbilt.
In the 1990s Pry was a graduate assistant at Virginia Tech under Frank Beamer. Pry inherits a 6-6 team that had a stream of 27 straight seasons with a bowl game snapped last year. The 51-year-old Pry Is an Altoona High grad.
Rich Rodriguez will reportedly become the new head coach at Jacksonville State as the Gamecocks transition from the FCS to the FBS and Conference USA. Rodriguez, 58, has previously been the head football coach at West Virginia, Michigan, and Arizona.
