YOUTH LEGION
S.W. Jack blasted Brookville Firemens’ Club, 18-1, as the bottom of the lineup led the way. Dylan Shank, Jamison Miller, and Peyton Mamros had seven of the Drillers’ ten hits, with five runs scored and seven RBIs. Shank was 3-for-3 with a triple and two singles and Miller had two hits and three stolen bases. Mamros added two hits. S.W. Jack broke the game open with five runs in the second inning and nine more in the third. Riley George gave up no hits and one unearned run in three innings on the mound for the win, striking out seven and walking one.
SENIOR LEGION
Murrysville’s hitters jumped all over Homer City Post 493 for 12 runs in the first inning and cruised home with a 17-2 win. Murrysville had 15 hits, 13 of them singles, and took advantage of eight walks by Homer City pitchers and five errors to sprint away with the game, holding Homer City to only three hits, two of them by Braden Dunn. Nate Birchall drew three walks for Homer City.
LITTLE LEAGUE SOFTBALL
In the District 7 Little League 12U All-Star Softball Championship, the combined Indiana County All-Stars. Featuring players from Indiana, Clymer, and Marion Center, knocked off West Suburban, 8-1. Reese Mahaffey tossed 6 innings and struck out 13, giving up 3 hits. Ella Worthington was 3-for-3 and drove in three runs. AJ Putt was 2-for-2 with a walk and Leah Nelson added two more hits. Indiana wins the district championship and will open sectionals in Indiana next Wednesday.
The 14U softball team, featuring players from Indiana, Clymer, and Blairsville, also beat West Suburban, 8-1. They also win the district championship and move on to the Sectional next week.
