A man who pleaded guilty to charges connected with a bank robbery in Homer City in late 2023 is due in court today for a sentencing hearing.
According to court dockets, 29-year-old Dylan Robert Clark Rider entered guilty pleas in May of this year to charges of robbery-demanding money from a financial institution and fleeing or attempting to elude police in connection with the robbery of the S&T Bank branch office in Homer City. Police say on December 13th, he walked into the bank on North Main Street and presented the teller with a note before leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash. His car was spotted in Wilkinsburg and when police pulled him over, he got out of the car then got back in and sped off, leading police on a chase on Route 22 that resulted in him crashing into a police cruiser and being picked up after he tried to flee on foot in the area of Route 119 and Snyder Lane. Police found money from the robbery in his wallet, and a search of his car turned up the clothes from the robbery, a sawed-off rifle, a set of replacement hubcaps, a map from his home to the bank and a floor plan of the bank.
As part of the plea agreement, charges of theft, receiving stolen property, possession of a prohibited offensive weapon, resisting arrest and a summary traffic-related charge were not prosecuted.
