The two entities worked along with Bramlett Security and the Fatula Group on several active drills and tabletop exercises to keep their skills sharp in emergency situations. The grounds were closed off to the public between 8:30 AM and 2:00 PM yesterday to facilitate these exercises.
In a statement, Chief Justin Schawl said that the efforts yesterday will allow the police and the school district to keep the school and the community safer. Superintendent Robert Heinrich said that with safety being a top priority, they were grateful for everyone’s participation in the practice. He added that it provided “a situation in which everyone involved knows what the others need, and what they can expect from each other in a crisis situation.”
Bubba Fatula of The Fatula Group said that the partnership between the district and the police department is a model that other districts should follow as they continue to work side-by-side to improve safety and security within the district.
