Thanksgiving is always a special occasion for families, but some people don’t have the opportunity to enjoy the traditional turkey dinner with all of the fixings, or the fellowship that comes with it.
Community-style Thanksgiving dinners have become more common in the area in recent years, and there are several planned for the holiday, including one today at the Chevy Chase Community Center.
Barb Croce, the Center’s Executive director, says there will be plenty to go around at today’s event. It’s is free and no reservations are necessary, so everybody is welcome. She says people seem eager to gather together again
Croce adds that people are just as eager to volunteer to help with the dinner.
Dinner will be served today at the Chevy Chase Community Center from 11:30 to 12:30.
Tomorrow, the Salvation Army holds is annual Thanksgiving dinner, another free event to which everyone is invited. It’s from noon to 2 PM at the Indiana Eagles, at 420 Philadelphia Street.
A Thanksgiving turkey dinner will be offered tomorrow at the New Life Community Church at the Indiana Mall from 2 to 5 PM.
And the Share Your Blessings free Thanksgiving dinner will be offered tomorrow from 11 AM to 2 PM at the Coral-Graceton fire hall. It’s a drive-through takeout dinner, and there will be plenty for everyone.
