At their meeting Tuesday night, Blairsville Borough Council discussed a potential sale of vacant lots along Indiana Avenue.
Borough Manager Jody Poorbaugh informed the council that they had one person express interest in purchasing the vacant lots, however, the borough cannot sell the land outright and it must be put up for bid. Solicitor Pat Dougherty explains the process.
Further discussion is expected at future meetings.
In other business, council approved adopting Ordinance 715, which details placing statues, ornaments and permanent fixtures on borough property. According to the ordinance, no statues must contain explicit imagery or language that is deemed to be quote, “offensive, political, religious, or in any other way contrary to the use of public space.” Applications must also be submitted for anyone who wishes to place statues or ornaments at any parks or facilities.
Council also accepted, with regret, the resignation of longtime Blairsville Community Development Authority member Linda Gwinn. Councilman Ab Dettorre called Gwinn “an outstanding person,” and wished her the best in her future endeavors.
