While some rain came through yesterday, the heat wave across the eastern US continues today.
Accuweather’s forecast says that high temperatures will not dip below 90 degrees for the rest of the week and into the weekend, and a heat advisory remains in place from the National Weather Service until Friday. That makes it especially tough for those who work outside. Dr. Pat Shannon with IRMC offers tips for outdoor workers to survive the intense heat, including to look out for signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke.
Those who are looking for places to cool off can go to the Chevy Chase Community Center, as they are opening their center from 9-5 through Friday. They will have bottled water, air conditioning and a few other treats, and will serve lunch from 11:30 to 12:30. The Indiana Free Library is also offering itself as a place to cool off during their normal operating hours.
