At a meeting Monday night, the Purchase Line School Board approved the 2024-25 budget.
The financial plan came to $22,106,227 in expenses and $21,146,381 in revenues, meaning the district had to fill a $959,846 funding gap. They are doing so by pulling money from their fund balance, but also increasing taxes to the state-mandated limit of 7.8%. District superintendent Patricia Berezansky said that if they had not raised taxes, the amount needed from the fund balance would have been much higher.
The increase will affect both the Indiana and Clearfield County sides of the district.
In other business, the board approved another 15 new or revised policies and deleted another 14 policies as part of the board’s work to update the Purchase Line school policy. Another 20 policies were put up for first consideration. Berezansky said that they are close to wrapping up collapsing three sections into one. She says another 80 policies will still need to be worked on through the next school year.
