The Pirates blasted three home runs and got solid work from their bullpen in a 5-2 win over the Rockies last night.
Joe Block has the story.
Game two of the series is tonight. RHP Jared Jones (4-5, 3.27 ERA) starts for Pittsburgh. Ty Blach (2-4, 4.84 ERA) goes for Colorado. It’s an 8:45 airtime, 9:10 first pitch on WCCS.
Henry Davis left the game with concussion-like symptoms after taking a swing to the helmet in the sixth inning. He was replaced by Yasmani Grandal. Shortstop Oneil Cruz was scratched from the lineup with left ankle soreness.
Before yesterday’s game, the Pirates made a series of roster moves. They placed RHP Hunter Stratton on the 15-day injured list with a right triceps strain and selected the contract of LHP Josh Fleming. He appeared with the Pirates earlier this season, going 1-1 with a 5.68 ERA in 19 innings.
