The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections and Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman, Jr. are investigating a death that happened at SCI Pine Grove.
A news release from the Department of Corrections reports that 27-year-old Christopher Tisdale was found unresponsive in his cell at 6:30 AM on Friday as breakfast trays were being delivered. Prison staff responded and provided life-saving measures until facility medical personnel arrived. EMTs were also called in and life support measures were continued, but Tisdale was pronounced dead at 6:58 AM.
Tisdale was serving a 3- to 10-year prison sentence for robbery in Philadelphia County, and was only at SCI Pine Grove since November 2nd.
State Police were notified and they are conducting an investigation into Tisdale’s death. Next of kin has been notified, and the official cause of death will be determined by the county coroner.
