Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate fell slightly in the month of October.
The PA Department of Labor and Industry announced this morning that the Pennsylvania rate fell two-tenths of a percentage point to 6.0 percent in October. Last year at this time, the state’s unemployment rate was 7.0 percent. The U.S. unemployment rate also went down two-tenths of a percentage point to 4.6 percent.
Pennsylvania’s Civilian Labor , which is the estimated number of residents working or looking for work went down by 6000 over the month to 6,270,000. The number of unemployed individuals also fell for the eighth consecutive month by 12,000 to 378,000 people. The total number of non-farm jobs increased by 19,100 over the month to 5,760,800 in October. The largest gain was in the Leisure and Hospitality super sector, as it added 8600 jobs.
Indiana County’s unemployment statistics will be released later this month.
