The Steelers opened their three-day mandatory minicamp yesterday with everyone on the field except for running back Najee Harris, who had an excused absence.
Coach Mike Tomlin declined to say much about his new three-year contract extension, preferring instead to focus on football, and he liked what he saw on the field.
Tomlin says minicamp is not all that different from the recently completed OTAs, but it’s another step closer to Latrobe.
As he begins his 18th season, Tomlin says he holds himself to the same high standard as his players and his assistant coaches.
New Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson says his offseason has been all about getting to know and working with new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.
Linebacker TJ Watt says he’s ready to go after a knee injury kept him out of the Steelers’ playoff loss to Buffalo in January. He says it’s time to focus on football again after an offseason spent recovering.
Minicamp continues today and tomorrow. Players report to St. Vincent College on July 24th.
