Indiana County residents will have the chance to voice their needs when it comes to economic revitalization of coal and power plant communities at a special meeting this afternoon.
Officials with the Indiana County Center for Economic Operations have scheduled the meeting from 1-3 at the KCAC in Indiana. The Interagency Working Group (IWG) will be on-hand to listen to residents’ needs, provide overviews of available resources, and discuss ways of accessing federal funds available to local communities. The Group’s Rapid Response Team works with several energy communities that have experienced a fossil fuel facility closure, such as the Homer City Generating Station. Assistance is driven by locally-identified needs and supported with resources from federal, state, local, and outside entities.
Indiana County’s Commissioners and the Southwestern PA Commission are collaborating with the ICCEO in this project.
