Pennsylvania’s current President Pro Tempore of the Senate Jake Corman announced that he will run for Pennsylvania Governor.
The longtime Republican Senator from Bellefonte made the announcement today with a video on his campaign website and YouTube channel. Corman said that in his administration, job creation would be one of his top priorities. He has also pledged to “protect the personal freedoms of Pennsylvanians while improving our commonwealth’s educational opportunities, creating jobs and ensuring our communities are safe.”
Corman has served in the PA Senate since 1998 and was named the president pro tempore of the senate in 2020. Recently, he had joined with a group of parents in a lawsuit to overturn the PA Department of Health’s mask mandate. While the lawsuit won at the Commonwealth Court Level, the case has been appealed by the Wolf Administration to the State Supreme Court.
He joins Dave White, Guy Ciarrocchi, Bill McSwain, Lou Barletta, Joe Gale, Jason Monn, Jason Richey, Dr. Nche Zama, Charlie Gerow, and John Ventre who have all declared they are running for the Republican nomination.
