Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi says Saturday’s game against Virginia is no bigger than any of the other games on the Panthers’ schedule, but the stakes are certainly higher. If the 8-2 Panthers win, they clinch the ACC Coastal Division title and will play for the conference championship on December 4th. If Virginia wins, they can get to the championship game with a win next week over Virginia Tech.
Pitt is 5-1 in the conference; Virginia is 4-2.
Narduzzi said yesterday that he expects Cavaliers quarterback Brennan Armstrong back for the game after Armstrong sat out last Saturday’s loss to Notre Dame with a rib injury. He says Armstrong is a very dangerous pocket passer.
Narduzzi says the Panthers are not feeling any extra pressure heading into the big game.
Various oddsmakers have Pitt rated as high as a thirteen-point favorite on Saturday.
Pitt wide receiver Jordan Addison was named yesterday a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff Award as the top wide receiver in college football. The Panthers’ Antonio Bryant won the award in 2000 and Larry Fitzgerald won it in 2003.
Penn State’s Jahan Dotson was also named among the nine semifinalists.
