The Penguins dropped the first of back-to-back road games this weekend, falling to Ottawa, 6-3, on Saturday night.
Casey DeSmith surrendered four goals in the second period as the Penguins’ defense faltered again. After closing the gap to 5-3 on a goal by Kasperi Kapanen and two by Evan Rodrigues, the Penguins surrendered the empty net goal late in the third period to fall out of reach.
Before the game, the team announced that center Sidney Crosby, defenseman Brian Dumoulin, and head coach Mike Sullivan had passed the final covid-19 protocols and would meet the team in time for tonight’s game at Washington. Whether or not Crosby and Dumoulin play will depend on their conditioning after having sat out for 10 days in isolation.
Tonight’s game will be on 92.5 FM, WQMU, with the pregame beginning at 6:00.
