Few details are available about a large-scale brush fire reported yesterday in Young Township.
Indiana County 911 reported that the Iselin-West Lebanon Fire Department was called out for the fire at 1148 Blackleggs road near Saltsburg. Seven other fire departments would be called out later to assist at the scene, including Elderton, Coal Run-McIntyre, Park, Export, Markle, Spangler and Kiski fire departments joining in.
No word yet on the cause of the fire or how much ground was affected. This makes the 87th brush fire reported in Indiana County this year.
Emergency crews were busy with several other calls over the last 24 hours, including two transformer fires early this morning. One was on Route 85 in Washington Township at 2:48 AM and the other was on Route 422 West in Armstrong Township at 3:35 AM. Plumville and Indiana fire departments were dispatched, respectively. There were also two utility lines down calls. One at 2:08 PM on Simons Rock Road in Buffington Township that brought out Brush Valley Fire Department. Indiana firefighters would be called out to Metz Road in White Township for a lines down call at 11:56 last night.
