A Unity Township man who was found guilty of DUI and related crimes in Indiana County was convicted of a charge of drug delivery resulting in death for a case in Westmoreland County.
46-year-old Chad Ghrist entered guilty pleas to drug delivery resulting in death and other felony counts connected with the death of 40-year-old Rebecca Campbell of Latrobe in August of 2019. Police found her dead in her home, with evidence showing she had purchased fentanyl-laced heroin from Ghrist the day before. Police said that Ghrist’s DNA was also found on two empty stamp bags found near her body.
He was also convicted on charges connected with two other un-related drug cases in 2019.
Ghrist was ordered to serve eight to 16 years in prison for this case. This will run concurrent with the three-to-eight year prison sentence that he is serving for possession with intent to deliver and DUI-Controlled Substance for an incident on September 14th, 2019. Police said at the time that he was found at 1:45 in the morning passed out behind the wheel of his truck in the Days Inn parking lot and had suspected heroin and a straw used for snorting drugs.
