The Penguins couldn’t overcome an uninspired first two periods last night, and fell to the Chicago Blackhawks in a shootout.

Assistant coach Todd Reirden, who again led the team because of coach Mike Sullivan’s continued presence in covid isolation, liked the team’s effort in the third period.
Reirden says the Penguins are trying to find solutions to Tristan Jarry’s struggles in shootouts (after he also lost a shootout on Saturday.)
Center Jeff Carter says the Penguins can’t afford to play like they did in the first two periods last night.
The Penguins covid-19 situation got a little better yesterday as defensemen Chad Ruhwedel and Marcus Pettersson cleared the final protocols and worked out on the ice at the team’s facility in Cranberry. They have been out since October 31st. Center Sidney Crosby, defenseman Brian Dumoulin, and coach Mike Sullivan remain in isolation.
The Penguins skate again tomorrow night at home against the Florida Panthers.
The Penguins organization has reached a settlement with former Wilkes Barre-Scranton assistant coach Jarrod Skalde and his wife, who had sued the team over allegations of sexual assault of Erin Skalde by the team’s then-head coach, Clark Donatelli. Terms of the settlement of the two separate lawsuits were not released.
