A man who pleaded guilty to third degree murder and aggravated assault for a shooting during IUPatty’s in 2017 will be back in court today for a hearing.
Court documents show that Matthew T. McNevin will meet with Senior Judge William Martin today concerning a petition for McNevin’s legal representative to withdraw as Post-Conviction Relief Act counsel. The 24-year-old Marienville man was one of the two people who police say shot and killed Carlos Eduardo Recalde-Campos and wounded Samantha Riley, both of Indiana during the unsanctioned celebrations on March 25th at a home at 1128 Oakland Avenue. In February of 2018, McNevin entered guilty pleas to both charges. He was ordered to serve 20-40 years in state prison for the criminal homicide charge and seven years, six months to 20 years for the aggravated assault charge. The sentenced were ordered to run concurrently.
McNevin’s accomplice, 24-year-old Matthew James Ohler, Jr. of Indiana, was found guilty of conspiracy to aggravated assault and was ordered to serve 11 months 15 days to a day less than two years in jail and three years of probation back in July of 2018
