Pitt basketball coach Jeff Capel leads a revamped team onto the court tonight for the Panthers’ season opener against The Citadel, but Capel had to revamp his revamped starting five after suspending guard Ithiel Horton yesterday. Horton was arrested after allegedly punching a Pittsburgh police officer in the face over the weekend.
Capel had already plugged one hole in the lineup after losing guard Nike Sibande to a season-ending knee injury last week in a preseason game against Gannon. Injured guard Jamarius Burton has increased the intensity of his workouts since undergoing a knee procedure last month but he will not play tonight.
Tonight’s game tips off at 7:00. It will be a 6:30 airtime on WCCS.
