Several people woke up without power this morning in South Mahoning Township because of a vehicle crash on Route 85.
State police say that 41-year-old Joseph Karlinsey of Home was driving east on Route 85 near the intersection with Ridge Road when the truck drifted off the road and side-swiped a utility pole, causing disabling damage. The truck continued on, hitting a second utility pole in the process. The truck spun out and came to rest back on the road, facing west on the southern berm. Karlinsey was not found at the scene. Plumville fire department and the state police were dispatched at 6:15 this morning.
Penelec crews have been out at the site of the crash most of the morning repairing and replacing the utility poles. They say 237 of their customers in the area were without power this morning.
