A U.S. Congressman representing Indiana County says he is against the mandate put out by the White House concerning large businesses and Covid-19 Vaccine mandates.
The mandate that released by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will require businesses with 100 employees or more to have their employees fully vaccinated or to go through weekly testing starting January 4th. President Joe Biden said that vaccinations are the best way out of the pandemic and the number of people that remain unvaccinated remains too great to not take drastic action.
Congressman Glenn “G.T.” Thompson issued a statement saying he was against the mandates, calling it a “prime example of blatant federal overreach.” He added that the President’s mandate will put a larger strain on small businesses already negatively impacted by the pandemic. Thompson called the mandates a “one-size-fits all response, which ignores the fact that risk of hospitalization and mortality due to Covid-19 infection are not equal amongst our population.” He encourages people who are considering getting the Covid-19 shot to consult with their own doctor and make the decision on their own instead of having the federal government make the decision for them.
