In last night’s election, two Indiana School Board incumbents and two new members received enough votes for the four at-large seats on the board.
Julia Trimarchi-Cuccaro lead after all precincts reported in with 4,547 votes. Thomas Harley, another incumbent, received 4,184. The two new members will be Jim Shaffer, who received 3832 votes, and Sue Reig with 3,445 votes. Reig is a familiar face to the district as she was once a teacher and a principal in the Indiana elementary schools. She is currently the interim dean of the college of Education and Communications at IUP.
In the River Valley School Board elections, Rick Harper ran unopposed and had 1037 votes cast for him in Region 1. In Region 2, Jessica Clawson fended off a strong write-in campaign to receive 588 votes. There were 357 write-in votes cast. The names on those write-in ballots will be released when the votes are certified later this month. In Region 3, Melanie Cribbs Pantalone and Nathan Baird each won the seats available.
The only contested region in the Penns Manor School District was region three, where Richard Polenik and Tammy Dalton won the two seats available. Lisa Smiley was unopposed in the region one race, and former board president Robert Packer won the region two race.
All votes are unofficial until they are certified.
