One Youth Legion series ended last night while the other best-of-three will continue to a deciding game.
Top seed Armstrong swept Punxsutawney last night, dodging the raindrops to come away with a 9-4 series-clinching win. Each team had five hits, but Armstrong was clean in the field while Punxsy committed six errors. Eli Wiles started for the first time for Armstrong, pitching four innings, giving up two hits and two runs, striking out three while walking eight. Lucas Gawlinsky pitched three innings for the save, giving up three hits and two runs, striking out three and walking two. Zack Streightif had two hits and two RBI for Armstrong, which is now 20-2 on the season.
The SW Jack Drillers beat Kelly Chrysler, 8-2 to even their series at a game apiece. Ryan Putt pitched a complete game, giving up four hits and striking out three. He was also 2-for-4 at the plate with a double. Walken Rykes was 2-for-4 with a double, A.J. Ryan was 2-for-4, Zach Eisenhower was 2-for-3, and Zach Palko had a double for the Drillers.
Game Three, to decide the series, is tonight at 6 at the Hogan Field at the White Township Recreation Complex. The winner will open the championship series tomorrow night at Armstrong.
