Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi wasted no time putting Saturday’s win over Clemson behind him and already has the team pointed to next Saturday’s home game against Miami. The Hurricanes are 3-4 but coming off an overtime win over then 18th-ranked North Carolina State.
At his weekly news conference yesterday, Narduzzi says Miami is built on speed, and not just offensively.
Compounding Pitt’s concern with Miami this week is the potential loss of Jordan Addison and Izzy Abanikanda, the Panthers’ top wide receiver and running back. Both suffered concussions against Clemson and may not be available on Saturday.
Pitt’s SirVocea Dennis was named yesterday the ACC linebacker of the week and Carter Warren was tabbed as the offensive lineman of the week. Panthers’ strong safety Brandon Hill was named a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, which is awarded to the top defensive back in college football.
The win over Clemson may be paying dividends already for the Panthers. Kyle Louis, a linebacker from New Jersey, pulled his verbal commitment from Temple yesterday and switched it to Pitt.
Pitt also announced that the game at Duke on November 6th will kick off at noon.
