In Harrisburg this week, there are several hearings of interest, including one tomorrow conducted by the Legislative Reapportionment Commission, which is studying the redrawing of the boundary lines for Pennsylvania’s legislative districts.
The hearing will focus on the legal parameters for redrawing the boundary lines. Indiana County is currently divided into four districts. The majority of the county is covered by the 62nd District, with the 66th, 60th, and 55th having smaller portions.
On Tuesday, the Senate Appropriations and Education committees will hold a required quarterly review hearing with the State System of Higher Education, regarding the university integrations in the west and the northeast. In letters last week, Chancellor Dan Greenstein outlined progress made toward the goals set in July, including the expectation that the Middle States Commission on Higher Education will approve the mergers in March of next year. The letters also outlined activities planned for the next quarter.
