The Homer-Center School Board approved advertising the 2024-25 budget at last night’s meeting.
The budget comes to $19,239,641 in revenue and $20,061,877 in expenditures. About half of the $822,236 deficit is budgetary reserve, with roughly $422,000 being the final deficit. Business Manager Gregg Kalemba said there were two primary drivers for not having a tax increase.
While she voted in favor of the preliminary budget, Vicki Smith said the board may want to consider raising taxes gradually down the road.
The budget will go before the board for final approval in June.
Also last night, the board approved a three-year E-Sports program at the district. The first year will cost $3500 and the second and third years will cost $6000 each. The board also approved the candidates list for graduation ceremonies, which will be held May 31st.
