Those who want to see the best fall colors now don’t need to look too far, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation of Natural Resources’ Bureau of Forestry.
In their latest fall foliage report, DCNR says that Indiana, like most of the Western and Central areas of the state are now in the prime time for autumn leaf colors. Cambria and Westmoreland Counties are starting to see the colors fade, as are parts of the state’s northern tier. Susquehanna and Wayne counties are the only ones in the state that have been classified as “past peak,” while some counties in the south and south eastern areas are approaching their best leaf colors.

The bureau of forestry says that the abrupt shift to colder temperatures that happened last week has prompted the quick shift to the best colors. This coming week is expected to be the best for widespread, vivid fall color.
