One of Burrell Township’s Supervisors has decided to resign.
At last night’s meeting, Supervisor Dan Shacreaw announced that he was going to step down as supervisor and township roadmaster. In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Shacreaw said that his current health is part of the reason for his resignation, but he added that he did not like the bickering he saw among some of the township residents, saying that many of the problems brought forward were civil matters, and things the Township couldn’t do.
He started his work as a Township Supervisor in 2017 when he was appointed to the position, and had to run as a write-in candidate. He was re-elected in 2023. During his time, he has overseen the transition of the township’s office to its new location on Blaire Road. He also serves with the Black Lick Volunteer Fire Department.
In his statement, he thanked the current township supervisors, John Shields and Sam Hilty, and also thanked the township secretaries and employees for their hard work. He says he hopes whoever takes over his spot has the same passion for the township that he had when he first started as supervisor.
