A Marion Center man was arrested Tuesday for robbing the InFirst bank branch in Plumville.
State Police on Tuesday arrested 33-year-old Brian Richard Potts on charges of robbery, theft, receiving stolen property and making terroristic threats for the robbery that was reported at 12:31 PM on Tuesday at the InFirst location on Main Street. Police said that Potts went into the bank and passed a threatening note to a bank employee. According to an affidavit of probable cause, Potts made off with $3,190 in cash.
Police were able to get a description of his car, which was found later in the day in the parking lot of a Dollar General store on 25 Tanoma Road in Rayne Township. When they looked inside the car, they found the clothes that Potts was seen wearing during the robbery. Potts was found inside the women’s restroom and he was taken into custody without further incident.
According to the affidavit, Potts had $800 in cash and three bundles of suspected heroin on his person, including one he hid in his mouth. Potts admitted to committing the robbery to state police during questioning. He said that he had an addiction to heroin and was having financial issues, and that led him to rob the bank.
Potts was arraigned in front of District Judge Guy Haberl and was sent to Indiana County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 4th at 9:30 AM.
