Prior to Tuesday night’s River Valley School Board special voting meeting, the board held discussions at the committee level on virtual participation.
While the board is once again holding in-person meetings, some board members had concerns on not only fellow board members but members of the public being able to participate in the meetings through the virtual platform. As of right now, the board uses Zoom as their virtual meeting platform, and streams the meetings over the district’s YouTube channel. Board President Rick Harper said it was the majority opinion that the virtual option remains available. Board member Holly Hall agreed, saying it should be available for both board members and the public.
During the voting meeting, the board approved salary increases for security officers, the job description for a Coordinator of School to Community Programming and Services, and the appointment of Katherine Monko to that position. All the motions on the agenda were approved by a 6-2 vote.
