Two cars from the Colonial family of dealerships and some scholarships were awarded during the Indiana County Excellence in Education award ceremony Monday night at the KCAC.
The keynote speakers for the ceremonies were Lt. Governor Austin Davis and former Pittsburgh Penguin Tyler Kennedy. Davis talked about why he felt it was important for him and Governor Josh Shapiro to support Indiana County’s Youth.

The student of the year was Anna Layden of Purchase Line, who said her new Mitsubishi Mirage would come in handy as she is getting ready for college. She also talked about what this award means to her.

The teacher of the year was Christine Yurky of Homer-Center School District, who said she was humbled to receive the award.

The United Way also presented two $1000 scholarships for student and teacher philanthropy. The student award went to Emma Masengale of Indiana High School and the teacher award went to Scott Herrington of Indiana School District.
