Tomorrow night’s Indiana County Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Education event is so big, it’s altered the schedule for some area school boards so folks can attend. Marion Center’s school board meeting has been canceled. Purchase Line’s has been postponed until Tuesday. And Indiana Area has canceled its meeting of the Policy and Personnel Committee.
Just two days after Governor Josh Shapiro offered remarks at IUP’s commencement, Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis will be in Indiana to offer remarks as the keynote speaker at the Chamber event at the KCAC. Former Pittsburgh Penguin Tyler Kenney will also speak Monday night, and there will be 56 students and 8 teachers from the county’s school districts and ICTC who will be honored. One student and one teacher will be awarded a brand new car courtesy of the Colonial family of dealerships and the United Way of Indiana County will award scholarships to a student from each district, plus a scholarship for the most philanthropic teacher and student.
