For a record 31st time, the IUP men have won a PSAC Championship. IUP held off a hard-charging Gannon squad on Sunday, edging the Golden Knights by six strokes, 875-to-881. Mercyhurst finished a distant third, with UPJ fourth and West Chester fifth.
Freshman Isaiah Swan is the 17th IUP golfer since 1993 to take home medalist honors at the conference tournament, shooting an even par 213 at the Hershey Country Club this weekend. Swan’s title is the 10th by an IUP player in the last 15 years.
Swan tied teammate Shaun Fedor with a tournament-best ten birdies this weekend. His highlight came on Saturday when he hit a hole-in-one on the 189-yard par 3 13th hole. Fedor and Jack Buccigross finished in a tie for 7th, six strokes back of Swan.
Swan is the second IUP freshman in the last three years to win PSAC medalist honors. Fedor won the title as a freshman in 2019.
