In high school football, West Shamokin was blitzed by Conemaugh Valley, 62-12, on Saturday as the Blue Jays amassed more than 500 yards rushing.
Conemaugh Valley scored on the opening possession of the game after a failed onside kick by West Shamokin. The Wolves stayed in the game, though, and were tied at 12 early in the second quarter. But the Blue Jays ripped off 50 unanswered points the rest of the way, as Logan Kent ran for 229 yards and running mate Nick Hetzel dashed for another 205 on only seven carries. Kent and Hetzel each scored four touchdowns.
Conemaugh Valley limited West Shamokin quarterback Bo Swartz to 11-of-23 passing on the wet field for 112 yards. The Wolves fumbled the ball away four times.
West Shamokin returns to Heritage Conference play on Friday against Marion Center (WQMU).
