IUP’s office of International Education is getting ready to hold festivities as part of International Education week that will culminate with a naturalization ceremony on October 22nd.
International Education Week is an initiative with the U.S. Departments of State and Education, and is meant to promote cross-cultural awareness and prepare students for a global environment. The event is also meant to attract future leaders from abroad to study and learn in the United States. Last year’s International Education Week went virtual due to concerns over the Covid-19 pandemic.
Activities will start on October 18th with an international lunch and culture fair, and a Six O’Clock Series presentation on Careers in Diplomacy. On Friday will be U.S. Citizenship Naturalization Ceremony 11:00 AM at the KCAC’s Toretti Auditorium. A total of 28 candidates for citizenship from 21 different countries are expected to take part in the ceremony. IUP President Dr. Michael Driscoll will be the keynote speaker.
This fall, IUP welcomed 400 international students from over 50 countries.
