At the Indiana County Commissioners meeting this morning, the county did receive some encouraging news in the fight against Covid-19.
Indiana County Emergency Services Director Tom Stutzman said that overall, there has been a 25% reduction in the number of new Covid-19 cases over the last two weeks. Stutzman also reported a 4.35% decrease in hospital admissions in the county. But while IRMC resumed their weekly clinics for the month of October at the KCAC, Indiana County’s initial vaccination rate remains low. He said the CDC reported 47.7% of those eligible to receive the vaccine have been fully vaccinated in Indiana County, but he did say that a total of 2085 booster shots have been distributed since August 13th.
Stutzman also updated the Commissioners on the efforts to get some extra help at IRMC. At the last meeting, Stutzman said he was helping the hospital with a request to have the PA National Guard help with Covid-19 testing at the hospital. He added that all parties involved are now looking at other options.
In other business, the Commissioners approved a $50,000 CARES Act Revolving Loan Fund Loan to Coney Island Restaurant, and also approved a 10-year lease agreement with Louis and Debora Tate for the property where the District Court office in Clymer is located
