An infield single by Canyon Rankin and a throwing error by the St. Joseph’s third baseman allowed two runs to score for Homer Center in the sixth innng, giving the Wildcats a 3-1 win yesterday in the District 6 Class 1A semifinal game at Homer City.
Winning pitcher Nate Davis pitched a three-hitter, striking out six and allowing one walk. Rankin had two hits and Jesse Lee knocked in the other run.
Homer Center advances to the District 6 championship game against Juniata Valley.
Blairsville was eliminated by Bellwood Antis, 12-5, in a Class 2A semifinal matchup. The Bobcats had only five hits, with Ryan Shirley getting a double.
Bellwood-Antis scored three runs in the first inning and Blairsville answered with four runs in its half of the frame, but Blairsville could not answer a five-run fourth inning rally by Bellwood-Antis.
