State police say someone stole a payphone and discarded it in North Mahoning Township. Police were summoned on Friday when the phone was found over an embankment on West Creek Road near Mottarn Road. They say the phone was apparently stolen for the coins inside it.
Payphones, often in out-of-the-way locales, are used in that portion of Indiana County by the Amish.
