Second half goals by Kristen Finnerty and Indiana High grad Hannah Scardina pushed IUP women’s soccer past upset-minded Clarion, 2-1, in a victory yesterday at South Campus Field.
Finnerty erased a 1-0 deficit just seven seconds into the second half to tie the game and Scardina then used some “nifty footwork” to fool the Clarion keeper for an easy game-winning score less than four minutes later. Finnerty and Scardina also assisted on each other’s goals.
The Crimson Hawks improved to 5-3-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the division. They sit one point back in the PSAC West standing, trailing fourth-place Gannon 14 points to 13.
