The Pirates’ offense fell flat as they lost 7-2 to the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night at PNC Park.
The Pirates did start the scoring in the first inning with an RBI double by Josh Bell that scored Josh Harrison. Fransisco Cervelli reached base on an error that allowed Bell to score. But the Pirates offense was shut out after that, as Philadelphia scored a run in the third, two in the sixth, one in the seventh and three in the 9th. Trevor Williams took the loss, dropping to 2-3 on the season. He gave up 3 runs on four hits in 5 and 2/3rds innings of work without a strikeout to his credit.
The Pirates and Phillies play again Saturday afternoon starting at 3:40 on WCCS.
