On Tuesday night, the Homer City Borough Council approved starting the application process for some grants to help with blighted property reclamation.
Borough Council President Ken Cecconi said that they are looking at several blighted properties on Main Street between Church and Elm streets. These properties have not received a lot of complaints, but the seven buildings they are looking at have been run down, including the building that houses the borough garage. This is still in the preliminary phases, as the money from the grant would pay for the engineering costs for the projects.
The borough also agreed to advertise an ordinance that would make a no parking zone on the north side of Bryan Street between South Lincoln and Main Street. Cecconi talked about why they are looking at adding the no parking zone.
The ordinance will be up for final approval at their November meeting.
