Mitch Keller started for the Pirates and threw 5 innings, giving up 4 earned runs on 6 hits, striking out 7 and walking two. Manager Derek Shelton says Keller was missing his spots.
Joey Bart continues to play well and may be pushing Henry Davis for more playing time at Catcher. Bart hit his third home run and is batting .304, and Shelton says he is in a groove.
For tonight’s series opener in San Francisco, right-hander Quinn Priester [0-1, 8.31 ERA] pitches for the Pirates against Giants lefty Kyle Harrison [2-1, 5.00 ERA]. It’s a 9:50 airtime, 10:15 first pitch on WCCS.
